INITIATIVES:

1. January and February 2022 We promoted on air and in the job fairs and offered up to 100 hours of paid internships to area students and anyone interested in exploring a career in broadcasting. The internships were available to high school students and anyone currently employed in other industries. Job shadowing was made available to any student interested in a career in broadcasting.

 

 

2. March and April 2022 Minnesota Broadcasters Scholarship was promoted on-air (:15 second spots). Information included how area Juniors and Seniors living in Minnesota can apply for the Scholarship.

This year’s recipients were from Albany Senior HS, Northfield HS, and Lakeville South HS.

 

3. March 10th 2022 Noon-3pm

 

A member of the management/hiring team attended the High School Career Fair in Waverly High School. It was attended by several High Schools in the area; Waverly/South Shore, Willow Lake, Great Plains Lutheran, Henry High School, and Florence.

 

Stations representative talked about the different employment positions in broadcasting: On Air announcers, Sales executive, news/journalism, bookkeeping/traffic, engineering, promotions, sports play by play.

 

Also informed them that we offer job shadowing and internship opportunities.

 

4. April 22-25 2022

Staff Training and Networking

Members of the staff including ownership, General Manager, and Sales Manager attend the NAB/RAB in Las Vegas. We attended meetings, small group sessions and attended workshops to continue their education and pursue job/career advancement. We learned a variety of information including regulatory issues, management strategies, and how to be better broadcasters.

 

5. August 22, 2022

Lake Area Technical College Orientation 11a-1p. We had a booth at the fair and discussed opportunities for internships and jobs in the broadcast industry. Journalist, programming, production, engineering or sales positions were discussed with potential members of the industry.
